Senior Bioengineer

We are looking for a senior bioengineer with experience in nucleic acid nanotechnology to join our team and lead our assay development & optimization efforts.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in the development of new clinical molecular biology assays for rapid pathogen identification and comprehensive infectious disease diagnostics 

  • Design and execute wet lab experiments using techniques such as RNA extraction, cell culture growth/isolation, qPCR, bacterial transformation, miniprep, agarose gel electrophoresis, and assay troubleshooting 

  • Lead exploratory studies to guide product development and generate intellectual property

  • Present research findings in meetings with potential investors 

  • Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions and data review 

  • Contribute to early research and development, and lead the validation strategy to register these products as In Vitro Diagnostics with regulatory agencies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to work on site in our Downtown Atlanta lab 

  • PhD or equivalent, with industry experience in infectious disease diagnostics/medical devices 

  • Proven track record in ability to work independently in a lab setting 

  • Extensive wet lab experience and experimental design knowledge in the areas of molecular biology or virology 

  • Ability to design clinical studies, critically evaluate study results, and write protocols, study reports and publications 

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills 

  • Collaborative and enjoy working in a team setting but also can work with minimal direction while delivering high quality results 

  • Flexible and pragmatic problem solving skills, with a rigorous and data-driven approach to troubleshooting 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of industry experience in infectious disease diagnostics/medical devices 

  • Strong understanding of the regulatory approval process 

  • Proficiency in grant writing and track record of successful grants Expertise in synthetic biology techniques
